Firefly flights Sandakan to KLIA

Firefly will fly to Sandakan from the Main Terminal Building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. In line with strengthening its network in East Malaysia, Firefly is also increasing its frequency on the recently announced Sibu sector.

Firefly’s Head of Marketing & Communications, Ms Angelina Fernandez said, “Firefly indicates a significant growth and concurrently offers wider travelling options for business and leisure in the East Malaysia region with entrance into services to these sectors. Currently providing services to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, with commencement of Sibu in the third quarter of this year, we are confident in capturing the group of value discerning passengers.”

Firefly will begin its operations between Kuala Lumpur - Sandakan and Kuala Lumpur - Sibu, from the Main Terminal Building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

From KLIA - Sandakan

2x daily - Effective 1 Aug 2011
From KLIA - Sibu

2x daily - Effective 1 July 2011
3x daily - Effective 1 Aug 2011 (added frequency)
Firefly’s airport ticketing offices in the respective towns are targeted to be launched one month prior to Firefly’s commencement of service.

Firefly’s frequencies into East Malaysia via Kuching and Kota Kinabalu as below;

KUL – KUCHING

Current frequency - 4 flights a day
Effective 1 June 2011 - 7 flights a day
KUL – KOTA KINABALU

Current frequency – 3 flights a day
Effective 15 May 2011 - 3 additional flights daily from the Eastern Hub
(Bringing the total number to six flights daily between Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu)
